The Grand Bazaar is currently closed for a major revamp.

It is uncertain when the Gran Bazaar will reopen, at the moment, but I am working extremely hard to get it up and running as soon as I can. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of items that need to be reworked, and it takes time.

In the meantime, enjoy roleplaying. Everyone will still be rewarded gold for roleplaying. When the Grand Bazaar reopens, you should have a wonderful time figuring out how to spend all that gold you've earned!

When darkness spread across the lands of Maeldyn, bringing about chaos and death to all the cities of the Realm, it began to seem more hopeless with each passing day. There were those who stood up against the rise of evil beings in the Realm, however, and it is they who saved the world from the brink of destruction, beating back the vile creatures that wreaked havock upon the lands, and bringing love back to the Realm.

But, as with all wars, there were casualties. The God of Battle, Verku, perished in battle. His godhood had been transffered to his highest ranking general, Kyrel. The God of Order, Jareth, waged a vengeful battle against his nemisis, the God of Chaos, Gaziel. Both Gods lost their powers to eachother in a heated battle. It is assumed that both are dead, as neither can be found, but no one is sure. It is said that the powers of Order and Chaos have returned to the World Tree, until she can find those who she deems suitable and responsible enough for the powers.

Though the evil has been chased from the lands, their mark yet remains in many cities, which are litered with dead bodies, and trash. Many buildings have been torn to rubble, or burnt to a crisp. But the people of the realm are in high spirits, glad to be alive, and looking forward to rebuilding their communities.

All topics that have been created prior to this post may continue out with the zombie, ghoul, and demon invasions. All new topics from this point out should not contain any.

The first ever Maeldyn Recruitnig Contest is underway!

In an effort to spread the word about Maeldyn, and gain new members, we are hosing a Recruiting Contest! Tell your friends about Maeldyn, get as many people as you can to join the site, and by the end of the month the people with the most referrals will receive prizes!

What constitutes a referral? Getting someone to join Maeldyn, and create a character. In the Character Creation process, I have added a section for “Who Referred You”, so that when a new member creates and submits a character application in the 'Create a Character' forum, they may list your name. When the character is accepted, this will be deleted from their Character Profile, but will be tallied by the Realm Council.

On December 14th, the person with the most referrals will be rewarded with 500 gold, the second runner up will receive 250 gold, and the third runner up will receive 100 gold. All three positions will also receive a shiny award, which can be viewed in the 'Awards' section of their user-profile. For those who participated, but did not win in the Recruitment Contest, you will be rewarded, none-the-less. For those who did not place, for every referral, you will receive 10 gold.

There are still many open positions that need to be filled. We are looking for talented, intelligent, enthusiastic, and dedicated people to fill these openings. Realm Deities, or Gods and Goddesses, are there to roleplay with various players characters, to help them with their stories, and generally make roleplaying fun and interesting. They are also there to help the Realm Council out in with small tasks, such as answering player's questions. The following positions are open: Life, Light, Battle, Wisdom, Death, Deceit, Darkness, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Character Council
You should be focused on the character application, approval, and development processes. The welcoming and involvement of newcomers in the site, both out-of-character and in-character, is also encompassed here. It is important that the Character Council is quick, and attentive to new and old members alike. The faster a character is moved through the application system, the sooner people can roleplay, and the happier everyone is. Realm Development Council
It is the Realm Development Council's job to help build the roleplaying experience of everyone on the site. This is done by looking through the player suggestions, adding to the Ancient Library, coming up with Realm Events, and more. It is, essentially, the Realm Development Council's job to bring the Realm of Maeldyn to life. Technical Council
If you are part of the Technical Council, you're job is to to support the Realm's Rules. You must be comfortable to enforce the rules, and give strikes when needed. You must oversee and maintain the structure of the setting, and guide the players in understanding the atmosphere. With this, you will need to ensure that free interpretations or assumptions where nothing is written does not conflict with any existing document and does not go against the spirit of the setting. Any technical questions about how to navigate or use the site fall under your domain, and should be answered promptly.

Every month we put a little extra focus into expanding our library. It is not required that you aide in this, however it is much appreciated if you do. Please keep in mind that just because you may make a suggestion, it doesn't necessarily mean that your suggestion will be used. Also, keep in mind that for every suggestion of yours that we use, you will gain 10 gold. The Realm Timeline
History plays a large part in the Realm, and quite possibly in many of your character's design and foundation. Was your character's great great grandfather in a war? Did your character's great great great grandmother help to build a community? Character afflictions can help to make roleplaying interesting in giving your character something to overcome. Have an idea for an interesting illness? We'd love to hear it! Tell us what you call it, what it's symptoms are, the illness's effects, what is the cause of the illness, what is the cure or prevention. Any and all information you can think of is greatly appreciated and useful. Country Descriptions We're looking for detailed descriptions of each country for our Realm: Countries and Cities of Maeldyn section in the Ancient Library. Use the maps provided, as well as the information on the forums to come up with something to “WOW!” us.
